Brettenham
Primary School

In our nursery you will find confident, curious and happy children who are busy and engaged in their learning.

You will find teachers who love being in school because they really care about your child and their development.

We believe that the early years are the most important years of a child’s life.

We strive to ensure that we give the best possible start to our children from the moment they step into our nursery.

We create a warm and nurturing environment where all children feel safe and valued.

About us

  • We believe that children learn best through play, supported and guided by quality interactions with our skilled staff. These interactions help your child develop in many different areas of learning.

  • Alongside this, the children will partake in adult-guided activities.

  • Our learning environment is carefully planned to include sand, water, a writing area, reading corner, small world and construction area, a home corner and creative areas.

  • We make sure the children have access to our garden and our outside areas every day as we believe learning outdoors is as important as learning in the classroom.

Why should I send my child to nursery?

  • Attending nursery is such an important way of developing a child’s confidence, communication and social skills.

  • Children get the opportunity to be independent and form new relationships, skills that are important for their long-term mental and emotional wellbeing.

  • ]The routine and structure of time spent at nursery eases a child’s transition to school, especially when the nursery and the primary school are one and the same.

Who can attend?

  • All children get 15 hours of nursery a week for free when they are three or four.

  • They start nursery in the September after they turn three.

  • Families will get three hours a day in either morning or afternoon sessions.

  • This is paid for by Enfield Borough Council.

What do I do now?

  • All applications are made to the borough council. This is done HERE.

  • We can support you through this process. Please email us HERE, call us on 020 8345 6055 or come in to the school to find out more about this support.
